French Revolution - Remarkable Secret Letter, deliberately unsigned and therefore presumably from a British Spy, sent to Downing Street dated January 11th 1791, two years into the Revolution, providing an eye witness account of the activities going on around him. The letter is sent by 'special messenger' with the request that the recipient 'deliver the enclosed yourself to your neighbours in old palace yard', and reporting 'Sunday last was a day or terror, humiliation and sorrow to the clergy of this metropolis…' and then reports on expectations of an escalation of the fighting in the South of France. A remarkable letter which will doubtless provide further details on the Revolution
