Collection of very early 19th c Edinburgh Weekly Journal Newspapers covering various early golf club/society related events from 1818 to 1821 (6) to include newspapers April 29, 1818 announcing the winner of the Gold medal of the Edinburgh Burgess Golfing Society was played for over Burntsfield (Bruntsfield) Links and won by Mr John Scott; October 6, 1818 announcing the new Society of Golfers under the name of The Scotscraig Golfing Club met for the first time at Scotscraig when Mr W L Dalgleish Esq was elected captain of the club - The Gold Medal given by the club was played for over the Garpit Links and after a keen contest was won by Capt H L Playfair of St Andrews with the score of 105 strokes together with a further description of the fine golf course; May 16, 1820 announcing the winner of the gold medal played for by the Edinburgh Company of Golfers on Leith Links won by Adam Longmore Jnr Esq; June 6, 1820 announcing the gold medal given by the Thistle Golf Club played over Leith Links was won by Mr James Hay Leith. The 2x rounds were accomplished by Mr Hay in 62 strokes which was considered 'very great play' and appeared to be a new course record; July 4, 1820 announcing the gold medal given by the Montrose Golf Club was played for on the links there and after a very keen contest was won by the secretary Mr James Wills, surgeon, RN: April 10, 1821 announcing the Gold Medal given by the Burntsfield (Bruntsfield) Links Golfing Society was played for on Saturday the 7th and won by Hugh Graham of Meadow Place
