Collection of very early 19th c Edinburgh Weekly Journal Newspapers covering various early golf club/society related events from 1810 to 1817 (6) to include newspapers June 22, 1810 with given by Honourable Company of Golfers and won by John Taylor Esq (3x Honourable Company Captain); July 6, 1830 similar announcement the gold medal given by the Honourable Company of Golfers played for, Leith links and gained by Wm Mitchell Esq; November 23, 1813 "Bow of Fife - Nov.13 - The Golf Club Prize Medal was played for and won by Mr James Carstairs Jnr, Writer in Cupar"; July 5, 1814 notice that Silver Club was played for by the Edinburgh Company of Golfers in Leith links and won by John Taylor, Esq attorney in Exchequer (3x Captain of The Honourable Company); September 9, 1814 Golfing at St Andrews playing for both the Silver Club and Gold Medal played over the plus the traditional Ball after the latter event together with "A Motion" that each member shall in future pay Annual Subscription for the purpose of defraying the necessary expenditure; June 17, 1817 announcing The Gold Medal given by the Edinburgh Company of Golfers play over Leith Links and after a keen contest gained by Walter Cook Esq
