The Marquess of Hartington's Autograph Collection: An important collection of cut signatures from letters sent to the Marquess - Spencer Compton Cavendish, later 5th Duke of Devonshire - from political colleagues at Westminster. He was a leading statesman during the latter half of the 19th c and on three occasions declined to take on the role of Prime Minister. Over 70 different signatures, many with duplication - from Prince George, Duke of Cambridge, to Dukes, Earls, Marquesses, Barons, Viscounts and Knights etc. Including Randolph Spencer Churchill, Prime Ministers Gladstone (31) and Balfour, Arthur Wellesley - Duke of Wellington, Governor Generals of Canada, Viceroys of India etc. All signatures identified, together with a further quantity as yet unidentified.
