Victorian Oil on Board of a Terrier Dog Chasing a Mouse - by Edwin Loader of Bath 1827-1885. Edwin Loder - son of famous artist James Loder - originally enlisted in the 62nd Regiment of Foot in 1846 at the age of 19, serving mainly in India. After 20 years in the Forces, Edwin was discharges an unfit and was required to attend the Royal Chelsea Hospital as a pout patient. Returning to Bath, Somerset to set up a studio in Widcombe, Edwin Loader's portfolio of recorded works is dated between 1850 and 1885 and specialise in 19th century farm animal paintings of cattle and dogs as well as sporting paintings of hunters. Painting 29 x 21cm in original Gilt Frame Unsigned (slight Paint loss)
