WWI interesting small archive of documents, photographs etc - relating to the earliest days of WWI mainly relating to a captain and his efforts to join the fighting - the irony being that he appears to have had some difficulty being assigned to a regiment, such was the situation when the war commenced. It was somewhat different after the carnage began a few months later. The archive also contains a number of photographs taken around 1910 in India, including formal regimental photographs as well as of sports teams etc. There is also a number of photographs of George V presenting Regimental Colours in the 1920s. The Captain appears to have survived the war as there are later references to him as a Lt Colonel.
