Cuba - History - c

Cuba - History - c.1866 Very rare 1st hand legal depositions, on 5 leaves, by Chinese traveling from China to Cuba regarding the perils of the voyage - Most depositions are signed in Chinese by the labourer who was soon to become in indentured servant/slave as well as by other witnesses. This is an inquiry as to why there was a mortality rate of 6% during the voyage "that the Asian colonists suffered" on board the Italian frigate, "Luisa Canevaro". It seems however, that the answers are being coerced, one Chinese individual "Leo Kin" of the town "Yin Chao" says he travelled of his own free will and that the conditions on board were as per his contract, there was enough water. there was "abundant and healthy food"..., all in handwritten script (5)
