Trams - Wales - The Glyn Valley Tramway volume belonging to the original Secretary of the Glyn Valley Tramway, containing the original printed Act of Parliament of 1870 authorising the building of the Tramway, together with other related printed Acts, with ms annotations in both ink and pencil. Approx 45 pp folio with Morrocco covers with gilt title, The Glyn Valley Tramway was a narrow gauge railway that ran through the Ceiriog Valley in north-east Wales, connecting Chirk with Glyn Ceiriog in Denbighshire (now Wrexham County Borough). The gauge of the line was 2 feet 4.25 inches (718 mm) while it was horse-drawn, which was unofficially increased to 2 ft 4.5 in (724 mm) when steam locomotives were introduced. The total length of the line was 8.25 miles (13.3 km), 6.5 miles (10.5 km) of which were worked by passenger trains, the remainder serving a large granite quarry and several minor slate quarries. The line closed in the 1930s but in recent years a heritage trust has been formed with the aim of restoring at least part of the line.
