Unique Set of 12x Replica Historic Golf Clubs and Irons from the 17/18thc - exquisitely made by renowned clubmaker Robert Gowland and comprises 6 early longnose clubs and 6x early heavy hand forged blacksmith irons and putter together with a purpose built display rack for all 12 clubs - making an attractive and impacting display. The collection comprises the following unique clubs. 1. Early 17thc Troon Style elegant longnose scare head play club c1700 - the head marked with a striking design showing a diamond lozenge shape with 5 symbols inside. These include a crown at the top, a thistle at the bottom and what appears to be the letters I (probably J) and C separated by a star in the middle - fitted with 48" shaft and period style thick cloth grip and period style iron fixing nails. Note Royal Troon Clubs comprising 6x play clubs and 2x Irons are now on display in The British Golf Museum St. Andrews. 2. Early 17thc large Scare Head Curved Face short spoon c1720 - fitted with 38" Ash shaft c/w thick cloth grip with period style iron fixing nails. 3. A Mid-18th century longnose scare head play club c1750 with red keel finish to the head and fitted with 48" Ash shaft c/w red cloth full length grip fixed with period style iron fixing nails. 4. Early Cossar Maker Leith scare head longnose play club c1785 - with red keel finish to the head stamped Cossar Leith parallel to the face - fitted with 45" ash shaft c/w thick full length cloth grip. Note The Cossar Family were one of the first club makers to stamp their name on their clubs. 5. Early James McEwan Large Scare head Putter c1800 - with red keel finish to the head stamped McEwan and makers Thistle Cleek mark, fitted with 36" Ash shaft c/w full-length cloth grip. 6. Hugh Philp longnose scare head baffling spoon c1820 - curved faced elegant head fitted with 37" ash shaft complete with thick hide grip with under listing. 7. Early incredibly large blacksmith made curved Face Spur Toe Iron c1620 - fitted with 7.5 inch hosel with deep shark teeth nicking and sturdy ash shaft c/w full length cloth grip with period style fixing nails overall 42". 8. Early blacksmith made square toe shallow faced driving iron c1700 fitted with 6" hosel with deep shark teeth nicking - c/w ash shaft fitted with full length cloth under listing with period iron fixing nails overall 43". 9. Early blacksmith made deep faced square toe heavy iron c1720 - curved face head fitted with 5.5" knopped hosel and full-length cloth overlapping grip fitted with period fixing nails overall 42". 10. Early blacksmith made large oval dish faced heavy track iron c1780 - fitted with 7 inch hosel with deep shark teeth nicking, ash shaft c/w thick overlapping cloth grip overall 40.5". 11. Early blacksmith made small circular dish faced track iron c1800 fitted with 5" knopped hosel, stout fruit wood shaft c/w full length overlapping cloth grip overall 39". 12. Rare blacksmith made heavy metal headed thick blade putter c1800 - fitted with 7.5 inch hosel with deep shark teeth nicking, ash shaft fitted with a full length thick hide grip with under listing overall 36 inches. Note similar to the putter featured in the famous painting of Mr Henry Callender Esq by Lemuel Francis Abbot and dedicated to the Society of Golfers Blackheath.
