Note Ted Ray won the Open Golf Championship in 1912 and went to become the first English man to win the US Open Golf Championship in 1920 - Ray was best known for participating in a playoff for the US Open in 1913 with Vardon and Francis Ouimet (the winner). He was player/captain for the 1st official Ryder Cup in 1927
