1764 The Honourable Company of Golfers Announcement in The Gazetteer and London Daily Advertiser newspaper Monday 19 March - "Edinburgh, March 12 - The Silver Club given by the Town of Edinburgh to the Honourable Company of Golfers, was played for this day on the links of Leith, and won by Mr Colin Campbell, Advocate, who was accordingly saluted Captain of the Company for the ensuing year" see page 2 column 3 - interestingly see above at Worcester Assizes where nobody was condemned but 10 were cast for transportation, 2 for 14 and 8 for the 7 years!! Note some heavy folds, wear marks and creases but has stood the test of time now nearly 260 years old
