1761 William St Clair Leith Links Golfing Announcement in The Edinburgh Evening Courant newspaper Monday 9 March - "the Silver club given by the good town of Edinburgh, to the gentlemen golfers, was upon Saturday last the 7th curt. played on the links of Leith and won by William Sinclair of Roslin; Esq" - see page 2 column 3 under the heading Edinburgh they continuation from column 2 - Newspaper also includes reports from America. Note William St. Clair of Roslin well known Scottish golfer and archer as well as his renowned portrait, c1771 as Captain of the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. He also redesigned the Old Course at St. Andrews to 18 holes thus affecting all golf courses since.
