Hugely rare 1879-80 Irish Rugby Cap: Wonderful item: we have handled only one earlier such Irish cap. This is from just the sixth season of Irish international rugby, was the possession of Alfred Millar, a forward capped three times from 1880 (debut v England), and only 63 men had played for Ireland before him. It comes by descent through the family. It is well worn, and like so much of the Irish green in caps and jerseys is less bright than it was, but is entire, with braid, tassel, substantial braided shamrock badge to the centre of its six panels and date to peak. This is a very early, historic, evocative, impressive and desirable piece of rare memorabilia. Find us another!
