Scarce 1935 Balfour & Houldsworth Golf Challenge Cups "President" silver gilt and enamel badge - silver hallmarked Birmingham 1935 - winners compete for some of the most outstanding Trophies in golf. Note Open to golf clubs based with a 25 mile radius of Manchester - being the brainchild and formed in 1897 by the Hon A J Balfour (future PM) and Sir William Henry Houldsworth. Four top-class competitions for amateur golfers are played for each year and played at various clubs, decided at AGM each year held in April. It is considered a great honour for a golf club to host a B and H event and clubs are invited to send representatives to support their bid and still going strong today
