Extremely Rare 1966 World Cup Jules Rimet 22K Gold Braid, Silk Pennant - an extremely rare FIFA World Cup silk, gold braid and embroidered pennant: contained within a brass presentation plaque inscribed 'In honour of Their Kind Support and Loyal Co-operation During the 1966 World Cup, the members of FIFA together with 'Commission Ejective' proudly present The Board of Directors of Waring & Gillows Leeds United with the Jules Rimet Pennant of Honour, September, Hotel Ritz, Madrid 1966' mounted on velvet board, in a handmade brass frame with glass hinge panel - decorated with seven brass circular medallions, embossed with footballing scenes, made by Flandez, S.L. - comes c/w legend on reverse which states 'the Pennant of Honour was presented on the 20th September 1966 at Hotel Ritz at Madrid, Spain in Honour of Mr M Cousins support and participation by the firm of Waring and Gillow during the 1966 World Cup Tournament. Presented by FIFA as a special 'Pennant of Honour' woven in 22 carat gold bullion upon silk with the embroidered reverse depicting the classic motive of the First Jules Rimet Trophy only 3 other examples were presented during the evening and were awarded to FIFA Officers'. Hence ex rare - pennant measures 42" - overall 53.5" x 38.5" max.
