Late 19th early 20th century Knurr & Spell ball game launcher – comprising horizontal wooden plank with attached iron spikes and a spring loaded contraption, the Spell is placed on the ground and throws the Knurr (Ball or Stone) into the air to which the player strikes with a bat or stick – overall 14”h x 24”L x 5”w (including cast-iron ground spikes) with small wooden ball. Note the game originated in the moors of Yorkshire, in England, but then spread throughout the north of England. It can be traced back to the beginning of the 14th century [citation needed]. It was especially popular in the 18th and 19th centuries, but was virtually unknown by the 21st century. Note From The David Easby Estate
