1920s Scarce France White/Blue International Rugby Jersey exchanged with Dr A C Gillies -…

1920s Scarce France White/Blue International Rugby Jersey exchanged with Dr A C Gillies - who played three times v France, away in 1926 and at home in 1925 and 1927, so doubtless exchanged jerseys on at least one of those occasions. This French example is in very good order, white with a large blue collar, lace-up placket (lace fully present), bold colourful cockerel shield-shaped badge, and blue cuffs. It bears a white patch sewn to the rear with a stylised blue 14, which has run slightly, but only into the patch. Maker’s label from Allen of Paris. Lovely survivor from a century ago. Note: Dr A C Gillies (Scotland, Watsonians, Carlisle and Manchester RFC) winner of 12 caps for the Scotland in the backrow – moved to Manchester, and captained the Club in 1928-29.
