Note Renowned British landscape painter Clarence Roe (1850-1909) was the eldest son of Robert Henry Roe, a famous Victorian painter. Born in Birmingham in 1850, he later moved with his family to Hampstead in London. He lived in Scotland, but in 1860 settled in Yorkshire where he would spend most of his life.
