John Hogg was born in Penston in East Lothian in 1833. Educated at Edinburgh University, he went as a Presbyterian missionary to Egypt. He introduced the Maharajah Duleep Singh of Lahore to his future wife Bamba Muller when he was travelling en route to Bombay for his mother~s last rites. This book written by Dr Hogg~s daughter gives detailed account of how the Sikh Prince wrote to Hogg asking him to find him a suitable Christian wife. After the Maharajah returned from Bombay Hogg conducted their wedding service in June 1864. 8 illustrations including one of Bamba. Original red cloth with gilt titles.
