Treason Trial of Duke Hamilton (The Earl Of Cambridge) 1649 - a 43 page publication extensively detailing this notable trial. Printed for Francis Tyson at the Three Daggers near the Inner Temple-Gate, Fleet street, 1649. Size 5½| × 7¼|. For taking up arms in command of the Kings Army in the Second Civil War of 1648 after defeat by Cromwell at Battle of Preston was taken prisoner. Along with four English Royalists, he was brought to trial before the High Court of Justice in February 1649 as the Earl of Cambridge. His title in the English peerage made him technically an Englishman and subject to the High Court~s jurisdiction. He was found guilty of treason and beheaded at Westminster on 9 March 1649
