This proved to be Combe’s final appearance for France after a long distinguished career for Stade Francais and culminating with this historical moment in French rugby history – how could he cap that!! Julian Combe was a regular player with Stade Francais from 1899 onwards and the side competed in the French Rugby Championship which started in 1892 between Paris Teams up until 1899 when the winner of the provincial tournament Stade Bordelais joined winners for the 2 previous years Stade Francais in the first ever France Final – In the Stade Francais team that day was Julien Combe who 11 years later made his debut for France.
