These stamps were issued by Wells Fargo for their Pony Express and used on their Eastbound service between April 1861 until the ending in October. The Distance was some 1,670 miles between St Josephs Nebraska and Sacramento. The time for mail was reduced from 6 to 8 weeks to 10 days. There were some 120 riders employed including Buffalo Bill being aged 15 at that time. In all some 190 stations were needed for changing horses
