1938 US Tennis Championship – scarce collection of men and women players autographs which were obtained at the West Side Tennis Club Forrest Hills Long Island - 4x various individual pages incl 2x on headed letter paper to incl Bobby Riggs (Mens Singles Champion), Alice Marble (Womens Single Champion), Adrian Quist and Jay Bromwich (men’s double winners) and Australian Davis Cup winners which followed on immediately afterward - both then returned home to enlist into Armed Forces (both survived), Harry Hopman (losing finalist), together with Fred Perry, Jack Kramer, Kay Stammers (women’s double finalist), Henner Henkel (’37 French Singles Champion and US Doubles Champion), FX Shields US No.1, “Do-Do” Bundy first US player to win the Australia Womens Singles in 1938, Dorothy Stevenson, Nancy Wynne (Bolton) 7x Australia Singles Winner plus another 10 doubles and mixed doubles championship, Thelma Coyne ( Nancy Wynne’s Doubles partner!!), Nell Hopman (Aus), Len Schwartz (Aus), Joe Hunt who became US No.1 player in ’43 after winning US Men’s single title, Chet Murphy Winner of 10 Big Ten Conference Doubles, Coach and Author – plus a very rare signature of Holcombe Ward grand slam singles winner US Open on 1904, London Grass Court Championship in 1905 ( now Queens Club), regular Davis Cup player from 1901-1907, Helen Bernhard, and the list goes on – what an incredible selection of autographs form the Golden Age of Tennis.
