Sir George Rowland Hill (1855-1928) President of Rugby Football Union Vanity Fair Print: Dated Feb 1 1890 entitled ‘Rugby Union’. Hill was an English sporting administrator, official and referee, who is most notable for his role as the secretary and later President of the Rugby Football Union. He gave 49 years of service to the RFU, and in 1927 became the first person to be knighted for services to the sport of Rugby Union. Mounted ready to frame
