India & Punjab – Sir Michel O’Dwyer & Sandhawalia Sardars A vintage silver gelatine photograph with a large number of Sikh nobles and officials which include Sardar Raghbir Singh Sandhawalia of Raja Sansi seated next to the Governor of Punjab, Sir Michael O’Dwyer. Inscribed on mount ‘Presented to Rai Sahib Lala Jawahar Sahib from Sardar Raghbir Singh Sandhawalia of Raja Sansi’. Raghbir Singh was the grandson of Thakur Singh Sandhawalia who had been notorious in assisting his cousin Maharajah Duleep Singh against the British. Sir Michael O’Dwyer was the Governor of the Punjab when General Dyer shot unarmed crowd at Jallianwala Bagh at Amritsar, and was later shot himself by Udham Singh in London.
