Shorthand inventor Sir Isaac Pitman’s evidently personal collection of 26 Rare Pamphlets and periodicals [British and American] relating to spelling, orthography, phonetics, phonotypy and phonography of the English language bound in one volume. Pamphlet nos. 2 and 24 are inscribed to him and the period binding of the collection bears the ticket of a binder in Bath where Sir Isaac Pitman [1813-1897] lived. The pamphlets, all published in the 1840s and 1850s and are bound in marbled boards, internally clean.
