Very Rare Oxford University Rugby Programme selection (4): Including hugely scarce 1898 two sided printed coloured card issue from Queen’s Club for the 2 tries to nil Oxford win over Cambridge, neat folds; the third Twickenham Varsity match, 1923, gen. good; Iffley Road card for the University v French visitors Lyons 1927, light pencil note; and the OURFC Past & Present XV v the Barbarians 1969, good. The 1898 issue is rarely seen, and apart from its attractiveness and age features, for Oxford, TO Jones, the longest-lived Blue, and skipper TA Nelson, to whom John Buchan dedicated his famous thriller The 39 Steps.
