India & Punjab - Notes Of General Allard Lahore Durbar 1836 Book - A rare book of the Notes of General Allard, a French General in the Sikh army of Maharajah Ranjit Singh, titled 'Notes Historiques sur le General Allard et sur le Royaume de Lahore' - Historical Notes of General Allard of the Royal Court of Lahore, 1836. A fascinating contemporary account written during Ranjit Singh’s lifetime. General Allard was Born in Saint Tropez, he became a soldier and was twice injured while serving in Napoleon's army. In 1820, Allard left for Punjab, where he in 1822 entered the service of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh. He was commissioned to raise a corps of dragoons and lancers in the Sikh Army. On completion, Allard was awarded the rank of general, and became the leader of the European officer corps in the Maharaja's service.
