WWII – German Snipers Rifle Butt – marked 22812 to the end, given as a prize in the defence Germany, the butt features a painting of sniper together with the Scharfschutzen or sniper’s badge, 1st class with gold trim. The Sniper’s Badge was instituted on 20 August 1944 having three grades; Third Class (no cord) for 20 enemy kills, second class (Silver Cord) for 40 enemy kills and first class (Gold cord) for 60 enemy kills. The enemy kills were counted from 1st Sept 1944, with every kill having to be confirmed by witnesses and reported to the unit.
