Prideaux, William de Courcy (1862-1923)– Correspondence Concerning Post-War Developments On The Vickers Machine Gun 1914-1920 – correspondence with the office of Prime Minister Lloyd George, who previously served Secretary of State for War, concern this and another invention of military significance. Prideaux was an archaeologist and antiquarian of Weymouth, Dorset. He was elected Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries on 5 March 1914, but the Society has no further record of him. Perhaps unexpectedly, he was the inventor of a machine gun belt that was much used by the British and Allied forces in World War I, as well as a speed-loader for revolvers. (5)
