WALTON, IZAAK AND COTTON, CHARLES - “THE COMPLETE ANGLER” – 1836 Publ’d William Pickering London – 1st Nicholas Ed - originally published in two volumes, this set extended to 5 volumes containing 614 illustrations in letterpress on both India and plain proofs and many are window mounted –– 190 plates relate to fish and fishing, 27 being hand coloured – Gilt to all edges – bound in full green and gilt morocco with very decorative ribbed gilt spine with title and volume 340number – very light rubbing to the outer edges and corners – each volume has hand written pencil details listing the number of illustrations - the front board to Volume V has split 9” from the bottom upwards overall 11.25” –nevertheless this must be one of the most extravagant sets ever produced – quite stunning (G)
