France - This Book Of Hours Leaf Was Scribed In Rouen, France Circa 1470-1490 - Has 24 lines of text, ruled in red, written in Latin in an elegant angular gothic book-hand script on vellum, rubrics in red. With unusual vibrant and elaborate panel borders in a colourful floral motif in red, green, blue and white on gold ground. Size 5” × 7” (125mm × 178 mm). This leaf concludes the Hours of the Cross – Hour of None and all of the Hours of the Holy Spirit – Hour of None. The two-line illuminated “D” begins: “Domine…” O Lord Jesus Christ the Son of the living God, set Thy passion, cross, and death between Thy judgment and my soul, now, and in the hour of my death and vouchsafe to grant unto me grace and mercy: to the living and the dead rest and pardon: to Thy Church peace and concord, and to us sinners life and glory everlasting, who livest and reignest, God, with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, world without end).
