1900 Launch of the Imperial Japanese Naval Ship “IWATE” Programme - Elswick Shipyard, Newcastle upon Tyne. An attractive multicoloured and gold two page programme. Built by Sir W.G. Armstrong Whitworth & Co. Ltd. Printed on fine semi-gloss card, size 8½” × 11½”, in very good condition. A Izumo-class armored cruiser During the Russo Japanese War in 1904-05 the ship was lightly damaged during the Battle of Port Arthur, Battle off Ulsan and the Battle of Tsushima. At the end of World War II the Iwate was sunk by American carrier aircraft during the attack on Kure in July 1945.
