Fine C Farlow & Co Ltd fly reservoir and flies c.1910: comprising Farlow Leather travelling case c/w a fine black japanned fly reservoir with hinged lid both with retailers Charles Street St James’s address – comes fitted with 6 lift out trays and leather lift out straps - containing 206 flies - a good range of sizes up to 7/0 incl 82x gut eyed and 124 steel eyed – patterns incl Thunder and Lightning, Wye Grey, Black Doctor, Silver Doctor, Claret Jock Scott, Butcher, Ackroyd, Lady Mary Grey Eagle, White Wing Ackroyd, Dusty Miller, Sir Richard, Jock Scott, FG Morgan, Wye Grey, Childers, Invicta, Lizzie, Yellow Eagle, Black Dose, The Mystery, Wye Olive, Lemon Grey, Wilkinson, Vansittart’s Wasp, Rogan’s Claret et al - the block leather travelling case complete with handle is embossed “H.L Heber-Percy” to the lid and also inscribed HLH-P to the lid of the fly reservoir -with interesting Shropshire connection with the family home and estate still based in Hodnet North Shropshire - an important family collection of early salmon flies contemporary with the reservoir with an extensive range of Wye, Scottish and Irish patterns – the lid is slightly bowed from the leather lift out straps and tiny stitching coming away to the rear corners of the lid and one rear corner of the tin has a split - otherwise quite stunning,
