1822 Covent Garden Theatrical Fund engraved card ticket for a Guinea - by C. Corbould after J. Corbould, Wednesday 27 February 1822 [original date 30 January crossed through], Thalia and Melpomene presenting decayed votaries (aged actors) to the protection of Britannia, Ticket no. 139, signed by Daniel Egerton and partial seal at left, back named (Most Noble Marquis of Stafford), Size 150 x 110mm, in good condition. Note: The Covent Garden Theatrical Fund, for supporting aged, indigent and infirm actors and actresses of the Theatre Royal, and relieving their widows and children, was established on 23 December 1765 and confirmed by Act of Parliament. This Charity still exists today as The Royal Theatrical Fund.
