Remarkable typed letter to William Birrell Chelsea Manager undated but 1951, written by ‘Fanatic Fan Frank’ i.e. Frank Mitchell and couched in no uncertain terms suggesting that the manager should pack it up. The letter questions how the manager ever got into the game, he (the manager) is completely out on his own as a failure in the managerial world. It goes on to state the manager should waste no more time and get out. A surprising reflection of the turmoil behind the scenes at that moment in time and no real surprise that both left at the end of the season, Frank moving on to Watford. Good.
