Original SS Canberra Union Jack Panel Stitched Flag a souvenir taken by Junior Officer on the ship in the 1980s. Authentic flag. SS Canberra was requisitioned by the Ministry of Defence for use as a troopship and sailed on 9th April 1982 for the South Atlantic. Nicknamed the Great White Whale, Canberra proved vital in transporting the Parachute Regiment and the Royal Marines to the islands more than 9,000 nautical miles away from the UK. Argentinian pilots were told not to hit this ship as they mistook her for a hospital ship, in good condition measures 1.2m x 2.36m together with Original SS Canberra Ships Brass Bell acquired as a souvenir by Marine Melvilles PO41860T from 40 Commando during or after the Falklands War 1982 , with S.S Canberra engraved to the front, measures 15cm h x 15cm Dia, approx.
