Impressive 1907 Hanover Lawn Tennis Club Tournament trophy - the impressive 24” (60cm) high white metal trophy is engraved to the bowl “Hannovera-Pokal Gestiftet Von Mitgliedern Des Deutschen Tennis-Verein Hannover” and engraved with the winners details to the base Sieger 1907 - Dr Larsen, Kopnhagen to one side and again in 1908 Dr Larsen, Kopnhagen to the opposite side. The impressive trophy has a domed cover embossed with acanthus leaves beneath a cone finial, the slender partly reeded bowl (gilded interior) with Robert Adam style swags and bows, on flared foot with square knop and is engraved around the foot with makers details ‘Carl Busch Hof Juwelier Hannover’– the weighted base makes it impossible to weigh – but the small lid weighs 11.9oz. Note Dr. Erik Ockenholt Larsen (b.1880-d.1964) was a Danish tennis player who competed in the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, competed at Wimbledon on four occasions, Paris, Ireland and Hamburg. Larsen won the men’s title at the Danish Championships from 1905 to 1908. In March 1913 Erik Larsen represented the Dansk Boldspil Union at the inaugural meeting in Paris of the ILTF. 11.9 ozs.
