Sir Cloudseley Shovell Signed Set of Orders to Capt. John Baker, Commander of H.M.S Monmouth dated 30th August 1703 written aboard his flagship H.M.S Triumph, relating to Captain Bakes of Monmouth who was captain at the Battle of Cadiz and Vigo Bay in 1702, at the capture of Gibraltar, Malaga in 1704 at the Siege of Barcelona in 1705, and the Battle of Toulon in 1707. These orders state ‘orders your Lord to follow for landing the marines Lisbon and Triumph Aug 30 1703’ in relation to the landing for the Capture of Gibraltar, signed clearly to the bottom left, with tears to the centre and some wear to the pages, otherwise text is clear, size 15 x 19cm
