A large oil painting of the Sikh’s 10th Guru, Guru Gobind Singh (22 December 1666 - 7 October 1708) by Vir Singh, an accomplished artist working in the 20th Century in Amritsar, India. A warrior, poet and philosopher. He succeeded his father Guru Tegh Bahadur as the leader of Sikhs at the young age of nine. He founded the order of the Khalsa, a casteless military order in 1699. This group of men and women were dedicated to living in equality and peace, but willing to fight and lay down their lives to protect themselves and others from injustice and tyranny.
