India – Sikh History. Large miniature of the Golden Temple at Amritsar on paper of the Sialkot type used in the 19thc. Mounted in a rectangle black wooden glazed frame. Heightened in gold, this image is striking as it shows in clear detail the outer buildings that surrounded the Parikrama (path surrounding the Golden Temple). All of these buildings but one, the Ramgharia Misl building have now all disappeared. A rare and early 19thc depiction. Size 12cm by 10cm.
