First ever report on the Great Fire of London Historic Newspapers – London Gazette Number 84 issue covering August 30 to September 3 1666, two pp folio, fine condition, evidence of original collation in a bound volume to left hand margin, not affecting text. A classic issue, carrying at the bottom of page two the bald report : ‘London Sept 2 About two a clock this morning a sudden and lamentable fire brake out in this City, beginning not far from Thames-Street, near London Bridge...’ The first contemporaneous report of the Great Fire of London. Elsewhere the edition has the usual eclectic mix of news both home and abroad. Of the greatest rarity and one of the most sought after newspapers by collectors.
