Military satire manuscript written in the form of a menu c1798, being a satirical and somewhat bawdy view of the life of a soldier at the time. Tall folio, split along folds, modern binding. The ‘menu’ is divided into numerous courses commencing ‘Melancholy Soup with Crooked Sarah’ with a later course entitled ‘The reward of a soldier – The loss of a wife and the gain of a husband in jelly.’
