Trade letter 1672 good example of a trade letter sent from Lisbon and dated October 8th 1672 written by Willian Birde, clearly an agent writing to John Cooke and reporting on shipping movements in the area at the time : ‘...this week offered but little newly. What we had was from your place ye arrival of a Newfoundland man as yet none appears here. We have notice from St Lucar [presumably St Lucia] of ye arrival of ye West India Fleet consisting of 14 saile wch is good newly for our English merchants and ye trade for Spaine...’ 1p folio with integral address leaf, good condition.
