Ephemera – THE AIRSHIP R100 c1929-30

Ephemera – THE AIRSHIP R100 c1929-30. Very interesting 26 page Publicity booklet detailing the development and construction by the “Airship Guarantee Company Ltd” at Howden in Yorkshire which was the company then constructing the large airship designed to carry 100 passengers between England and Canada or England and India. With 3 full page photographs and artists illustration of the Airship in flight. Printed on fine gloss paper in card cover, size 5.75” × 8.75”. The R100 was largely designed by Barns Wallis who later designed the Wellington bomber and the bouncing bomb of Dam Busters fame. The Airship made a successful trial crossing to Canada and back, but although better designed and constructed, it was scrapped when Airship R101 crashed in France in 1931.
