Has age wear, folds and grubby appearance. Note: Following this meeting and during the course of the following two weeks, the Bank refused to offer further finance to the club. For all intents and purposes Manchester United were broke, having insufficient funds to pay the players and the staff wages. On December 19th, Walter Crickmer, the United Secretary, visited the home of a Mr. James Gibson a United follower, Mr. Crickmer left the meeting with a cheque for ?2,000.00, the sum of which covered the wages and expenses throughout the Christmas period and into the New Year. Further, Mr. Gibson promised to finance United for the foreseeable future and the history of the club was changed forever. Mr. Gibson stayed with United until his passing in 1951.
