The boxing gloves were purchased at a Charity Auction in Ireland in aid of Goal, an Irish Charity which at that time supported a project to send Irish Eye Surgeons to India one of whom was a great friend of the consignor’s late husband. Note Floyd Patterson b.1935 – d.2006) was an American professional boxer and former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. At 21, Patterson became the youngest man to win the world heavyweight title. He was also the first heavyweight boxer to regain the title as well as winning the gold medal at the 1952 Olympic Games as a middleweight.
