King Charles II 1630-1685 signed warrant in ink appointing Edward Carterett 'Wee doe by these presence constitute and appoint you to bee Cornett of that Troop of Horse employed for our service in our island of Jersey whereof Sir Thomas Morgan is Captaine. You re carefully to discharge the duty of a Cornett by exercising the said Troop of Horse in arms both officers and soldiers and to keep them in good order of discipline and wee doe hereby command them to obey you as their Cornett' given at our Court at Oxford 20th December 1665, signature to the top centre, with no seal, some creases and browning marks throughout although script is still clear, overall measurement 25 x 24,5 cm
