VICTORIAN GOLF/SPORTS AMAZING SCRAPBOOK FROM 1894-1910 compiled by Howard Martin, commencing on 1st January 1894. A mighty volume weighing in at 13lbs containing a huge amount of ephemera from the time, including a lot of golfing interest, amongst which are 14 photographic plates depicting Portrush, including 5 from the 1895 Ladies Championship (Winner: Lady Margaret Scott) and 5 from Newcastle, County Down, 1899 (Winner: May Hezlet). Also noted are photographs form Port Salon, Donegal (4), Larne (3) including Opening Day June 1895, Carnlea Belfast (2), Rosapenna (1), Carnoustie, Duddington et al plus 9x original photographs from the 1899 Scotland / Wales rugger match. Howard Martin was Hon. Sec. and Treas. of the Scottish Accident GC, playing at the Insurance & Banking Golf Club's course at Duddington. The cloth covered boards are covered with a well-worn full leather jacket with embossed title "Olla Podrida" and compiler "Howard Martin". This is the most awesome scrapbook ever seen at Mullocks Auctions and is well worth inspecting to appreciate the time and effort to compile such a wonderful social record from the turn of the last century - hard to put down!!!
