1897 Her Majesty’s Ship “Niobe” Launch Invitation Card for the Navy dated 20th February at 12 o’clock, the Ship, a First Class 10,000 tons Cruiser launched from Barrow in Furness by Lady Harris. Fine artist impression of the warship at sea, which was built by the Naval Construction and Armaments Company, later became Vickers Armstrong, with some wear otherwise in G condition20 x 15.5cm Note: HMS Niobe was a ship of the Diadem-class cruiser in the Royal Navy. She served in the Boer War and was then given to Canada as the first ship of the then newly created Royal Canadian Navy as HMCS Niobe. Made patrol duties during the First World War. Damaged in the 1917 Halifax Explosion, she was scrapped in the 1920s
